Thanks for all the great feedback and support.....

Retro Standard Lamps had its' first appointment out and about since it began nearly three months ago and unless if you searched on Google randomly for "retro standard lamps" or are a friend, no one would have heard of us - that is until last Monday and Tuesday, where we launched to the public, setting up our stall at the Lincoln Antique and Home show!

We are absolutely delighted to be able to tell you that it was a success and that four 'Gloss Drops' and the two from the 'Strip Lighting' range were sold to Lloyd's Antiques of Japan, a chain of 10 stores that can be found in 4 of its' cities Tokyo, Yokohama, Kobe and Hakata.

I would like to express my thanks and gratitude for the help and support offered from Peter and Margaret, my plot neighbours on site, 'Peter I would never have been able to have reversed out of that space without you,' and once again to all of you that stopped and offered words of encouragement and best wishes. We have re-booked for the August show, the same plot 59, so see you there!

Sun 14th, Mon 15th & Tue 16th August 2011

Arriving Monday 5.50 am

Still have our Bond swivel leather chair, but where's the sideboard?
Sold to the man who's shipping out to somewhere in Asia, that's where!

P.S. The kid Pop brought good fortune
when she arrived Tuesday lunchtime, when we were made an offer
too good to refuse on the chair. SOLD!

It's done with no smoke and mirrors

Eagle '69 has landed!

So the follow up to The Dandy'51 and the 2nd in the series 'Strip Lighting' is this rather spectacular retro standard lamp decorated with an issue of school boy fave of the time ..'Eagle' comic, sporting none other than Dan Dare on the cover, of course!

The design of this lamp incorporates a circular table, which we think, assists in the shape of the lamp replicating a Sci-Fi laser gun of some sorts, so Light Red seemed the perfect colour to paint the trim where necessary, the feet are in Machine Green.

What does need to be noted here is the use of lampshade we had bought ourselves, and is not covered with vintage fabric of any sort. We had acquired it only weeks before starting out, so obviously have no use for it now and could see how this lamp required a cone shape shade, not the drum we have been making.  The plain red material is backed with a copper inlay, which provides along with its shape, a wonderful 'nozzle' for a laser!

SOLD, sorry
