'La Broderie' standard lamp with a vintage French embroidery pattern lampshade

'La Broderie' standard lamp with a vintage French embroidery pattern lampshade

This retro standard lamp is ready to beautifully sit in a chic salon du lit; it's decorated in key design details from 'La Broderie' - a vintage French embroidery patterns for trousseaux, circa 1948-49, with only the base seeing a hint of colour - lilac. The embroidery patterns were purchased at a brocante in Central France and lovingly upcycled by Ade and Viv. To top this lamp off we've continued with the theme and given it a matching lampshade too! Due to the nature and age of the embroidery pattern, please expect to see wear and tear, we've no intention of hiding it, as we think it just adds further character to this lovely piece of lighting.

'La Broderie' on Bone White stand

'La Broderie'

'La Broderie' vintage paper shade on Bone White standard lamp, dipped in blue gloss. This range is a bit special, we've used post Second World War (circa 1948) French embroidery patterns used for decorating couture such as a wedding trousseau. These were bought in at a brocante in central France, a bit battered and dog-earred, look all the better for being a bit worn. As you can see from the photograph this piece looks great in your boudoir!

The good news is that if you've only got room for a pendant ceiling shade, they come in two sizes and we do sell them separately and have plenty in stock! Check the 'Shadey Ade' post for sizes avaliable.

Queen Elizabeth II : Coronation No.1

Queen Elizabeth II : Coronation No.1

Here at Ade & Viv HQ we're starting early with our preparations to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee, we've produced a range of just 2 retro standard lamps commerating this landmark occasion. This standard lamp enjoys being furnished in the souvenir issue of Illustrated Magazine dated 1953, depicting the coronation of our Queen with a selection of illustrations and photos. The overall look is definitely vintage, but a bit kitsch too. Nice.

To crown this jewel in our collection we've paired this standard lamp with a  lampshade made of  two post World War 1 flags to lend a bit of patronage to our creations. Due to the age of the flags we've done our very best preserve these beauties; they are frayed around the edges and have a few holes, but fear not, Ade & Viv think they look all the better for being like this - we wouldn't want to hide their authenticity!

The lampshade measures 45cm in diameter and approximately 36cm high. The standard lamp measures approximately 150cms in height.

Queen Elizabeth II : Coronation No.2

Queen Elizabeth II : Coronation No.2

The second of our commerative pieces, this time to using flags from the wedding of Prince Albert and  Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother to create an absolute one-off lampshade. Due to the age of the flags we've done our very best preserve these beauties; they are frayed around the edges and have a few holes, but fear not, Ade & Viv think they look all the better for being like this - we wouldn't want to hide their authenticity!

Again this is teamed with a standard lamp adorned in vintage illustrations of Queen Elizabeth II from Illustrated Magazine.
A must-have for the royalist in you, or those who like a bit of British tongue-in-cheek-kitsch.

P.S. All our lampshades and standard lamps comes with our our label "Upcycled by Ade and Viv"

"Uncle Sam" Trumpet Shade on a Navy Blue Standard Lamp

"Uncle Sam" Trumpet Shade on a Navy Blue Standard Lamp

This trumpet lampshade has been upcycled and handcrafted using a Star Spangled Banner with 48 stars. We've called this showstopper of an arrangement "Uncle Sam", as we think the shape of the shade lends itself nicely to the hat sported by the original Uncle Sam and we're happy to pay homage to him! Due to the age of the flag, there is some wear, and discoloration, don't worry, it really adds to the overall look and feel of the product. It looks great!

To accompany the lampshade, we used suitably patriotic coloured paints to upcycle the standard lamp.

Purple with Marrakesh trumpet

Purple with Marrakesh Trumpet

Making a return to our screen is a new purple standard lamp dipped in white and red gloss. The standard lamp is paired with a new-to-us style of shade, using the very last of Jonelle's (John Lewis) red Marrakesh cloth print. Classic in it's shape, both pieces add a very retro-vintage mood to any room!

Les Aventures des Tintin : Le Lotus Bleu

Les Aventures des Tintin : Le Lotus Bleu

Our homage to Tintin fans everywhere! Using a French 1958 periodical, we've offered this standard lamp a bit of a continental flavour together with a WW2 French Tricolore banner. We know that Tintin was in fact Belgian, but with a little bit of artistic creativity, we trust you'll like our product.

Arthur Swallows' Antique & Home Show, re visited!

It's been and gone, but last weekend saw us appear at the Arthur Swallows Antique and Home Show at the Lincoln Showground, where thousands of you turned up to enjoy what was on offer, on over 3000 stands. The weather was ace and it was great to meet more of you. We will not be showing at the next in October so it won't be until spring of next year that you'll see us at this almighty fair, but fear not as we plan on springing up elsewhere before then, details of which will be posted some time soon......
